PROFILE
I am a Ruby on Rails developer, based in Poland, with almost 20 years of work experience. My recent position was mainly focused in healthcare industry, using my skills to improve day to day work of clinical staff responsible for patient care. This required handling sensitive data, writing carefully, well thought code and constant collaboration with both engineering and product team.
I love challenges and mental gymnastics that software engineering job brings and my recent position taught me how satisfying it can be, when code I write serves higher purpose!
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Senior Software Engineer, Kindbody | Jun 2021 - Jan 2026 | May 2026 - Present
Full-stack engineer on a fertility clinic EMR system serving multi-location clinical operations, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Vue.js, Postgresql, Sidekiq, AWS
- Built the OB/Pregnancy module from the ground up, including OBGYN history, prenatal flowsheets, pregnancy outcome tracking, EDD forms, and OB checklist workflows. It extended the platform capabilities to onboard new patients.
- Refactored core data models and surrounding code to handle multiple active cycles per patient. It was a critical change that unlocked new clinical workflows.
- Implemented the Cycle Plan Acknowledgement system revolving around patient todos, legal disclaimers, co-signer support, auto-send on provider signing, and populating into medical records.
- Led the IDEAS legacy data migration. Designed and built the import pipeline for clinical records (notes, blood results, oocytes, PGT results, S3 files) from the legacy system into production, ensuring full data continuity.
- Owned the Patient Consents system. Implemented PDF generation and storage, version management (based on AASM state machine implementation), duplication prevention, and legacy consent compatibility, plus migrated the UI to Vue.js.
- Led several infrastructure upgrades: Webpacker to Shakapacker migration, Node 18 to 22, Vue 3 compatibility, and Ruby 3.4.4.
- Rewrote SART regulatory reporting to cover donor/retrieval data, cancelled attempts, and treatment-vs-pregnancy-outcome validation, improving compliance with ART reporting standards.
- Iterated continuously on core clinical workflows - Progress Notes, Stimulation Sheets, Embryology/Culture pages, Worklists - and improved performance of lab result loading and worklist queries for daily clinical use.
- Adopted AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex CLI), building custom skills for ticket investigation, implementation planning, and first-pass code review ahead of final human review.
